"Paper Birch"

10 Jun 2021 Article
A calm piano piece reminiscent of the autumn trees.

“Paper Birch” was inspired by the birch trees that I saw in the forest. They are the only trees that have white bark that peels like paper. They looked so dignified standing tall and straight. Sometimes they looked scary with the knobs of their bark looking like eyes.  Sometimes they were the lone tree in a clearing of short grasses and shrubs where they faced the autumn wind alone. Their leaves would shimmer as they trembled in the wind. In the dark, they still mysteriously stood out.

Autumn can feel like a very hollow season but seeing how trees like the paper birch stand up to the the indecision of the weather of this season makes me feel encouraged that it is possible to keep walking through the forest no matter how far and how long it takes to get through it.

“Paper Birch” will be released onto SpotifyAmazon MusicApple Music and iTunes on June 20th, 2021.
